I am talking about the children and families in Wilkes County that will be hurt if Medicaid benefits are cut back. Did you read the article I posted? It says that a third (33%) of the county depends on Medicaid, which helps to fund our hospital. Think about what it would be like to not have health coverage OR to have a hospital close by to help you in an emergency. Driving to Baptist when you are having a heart attack is long shot.

Anyone that works pays 6 25% of tiur wages to fund social security. Your employees matches that. The money goes to a reserve account, from which recipients are paid.
Wage earnes stop paying into the systen after earning a maximum amount in a year commonly called tge cap ($176,100 for 2025).
Currently, more money is paid out than colleced and thus the reserve may become depleted unless action is taken.
There are 2 action that can help.
1. Reduce the amount paid to recipients.
2. Eliminate or raise the cap.
