That report found from 2015 through 2022, the SSA made $71.8 billion in improper payments.
The agency issues $1 trillion in benefits every year.
Another database, experts said, is called Numident and contains a record of every person who has ever been assigned a Social Security number. There are people in the system, they said, who have died but don't have a date of death recorded because they lived long before electronic records were established.
This data set, experts said, has nothing to do with monthly payments but appears to be very likely where Musk is getting information that there are millions of people ages 100 to 369 in the system.

Albert, I am not. We should be trying to tighten the acrews as much as possible. However, i think Musk enjoys spreading misinformation and turning people against each other (copied from same article):
Justin Wolfers, a professor of public policy and economics at the University of Michigan, said it is "transparently obvious that he's misinterpreting or misrepresenting" the data but noted Musk is not "showing his work."
Musk has not explicitly said where he is getting the data he is posting to social media.

Until the $17 trillion + that has been plundered from S/S for decades by successive administrations is restored, there should be no consideration regarding cuts. If anything there should be a considerable increase in payments.

I wonder how many people who post on go wilkes rely on earned social security benefits? People on here ain't working much because they got too much time on their hands. I guess you folks want to put old folks in concentration camps. Guess what.? Old age will be coming for you one day. At least Putin has a red line with his oligarchs. The grand bargain was that he was going to let them get rich on condition that they kept their noses out of his political business. At most, they would be his errand boys.
What Donald has done is so extraordinary. He doesn't have that bright line with the new oligarchs of America at all. He basically said, "You bought it. Do what you want."

Facts First:This is not so. The hardworking civil servants at the Social Security Administration are extremely diligent in tracking the deaths of beneficiaries. Social Security spends millions of dollars every year to purchase the automated death data of state vital records agencies. And Social Security provides a lump sum death benefit, in part to encourage the families of beneficiaries to report their deaths promptly. When beneficiaries die, their benefits are immediately terminated. Eligible survivors, if any, start to receive the benefits their loved ones have earned for them.
Musk and his minions are reportedly now not just at the Treasury but also at Social Security's headquarters in Baltimore. That means they may already have access to how much a person has ever earned, at what job, and when, how old they are, their marital status and more. Musk may also have access to the medical records of every single one of the millions of Americans who have applied for disability benefits. No unelected, unconfirmed ideologue should be anywhere near those records, especially not the wealthiest man in the world, given his numerous conflicts of interest.What is going on should be obvious. Musk wants to cut off your benefits and then have Congress use the savings to give himself a gigantic tax cut. But Social Security is incredibly popular, so he can't be open about his intentions. It is sad that when confronted with truth and facts, it only makes them worse. I enjoy when discussing climate change asking them to answer weather it is colder during the winter now or when they and their parents where kids. They can not even respond truthfully to their on common sense.
