You people need to get a life. This has been decided already so shut your holes. I don't agree with it being allowed to continue either but stop whipping the horse - its DEAD. As for yellowjacket football they can't even align with the schools program so getting kids ready for high school ball is a fantasy they can't deliver. Other than basics they don't try to stick to the schools program and why are they always on here trying to recruit kids to play ? If the grass is so much greener on the other side the kids should be lined up to play.

I am not so sure I like this. I will call Eddie. But I think I will be forced to seek other options. I did not like my child being one of 40 kids. My son was able to receive a lot more playing time with the Hawks. That was what was so appealing to me about the Hawks. Do you think this decision could be reconsidered?

The Yellow Jackets teams are for players who live in Wilkes. All home games are played at the Wilkes VFW Park. Instead of having the Hawks team, we will have two 5th & 6th Jackets teams.

Home55wnc?

Do you know if the sister team of the Yellow Jackets, The Hawks, will be having a 3-4 and 5-6 team? My son played with them last year on the 3-4 team we won all but 1 of our games. It was truly a blast to belong on that team. I was hoping they would have a chance to repeat that record, or maybe even better it this year in the 5-6 grade teams. Eddie Jarvis and TJ were Great Coaches.

you go to be kidding me! You honesty think after Yadkin and Alleghany put themselves out there for all the kids to get a safer program with clear rules and direction and you hid behind the 'club' they will let you in? EW mighty mites will not be playing if they think mvyac will let them come in the new league and still have to be involved with sertoma. Sertoma is supposed to provide equipment , why did they not provide mm equipment for the other programs? Get out of sertoma and give them a call. They are not against the kids, but against the inconsistency, lies, and lack of concern for the program in general. Its not supposed to be about how much money I can make but to get these kids prepared to play high school football in a safe enviroment. Yadkin and Alleghany have equipment, rules, etc PLUS a board of directors who represent each organization to make and enforce the rules.

Great finally a chance to get out of SERTOMA. Where do you play your home games? Will you eccept kids outside of Wilkes or just Wilkes kids?

If you want a change, then come play for the Wilkes Yellow Jackets. The 1st & 2nd Jackets will play full contact football with teams from Boone, Ashe and the former Sertoma teams in Yadkin County. The 3rd & 4th and 5th & 6th Jacket teams will again play in the ASU sponsored league and will supplement their schedules with games against the former Sertoma teams in Yadkin County. The 7th & 8th Jackets will play or scrimmage 14 different middle school teams. Also, we are working on getting scrimmages or games with Starmount and Forbush middle schools.

If you saw a Sertoma schedule in April for this upcoming year, then that is the first time in history that one has come out before August. There will be more than 4 games before its said and done. No way Charles will only allow 4 games to be played with as much money as they are going to have to spend this year to update equipment. Dont get too overworked yet....Collins never makes decisions before the week before it is supposed to happen. There will be more than 4 games. I was also told that Alleghany was still in Sertoma....any truth to this?

I just saw a schedule of this year's sertoma football and I'm disappointed. The younger group 3&4 / 5&6 will only have 4 games this year. They have Allegany and Ashe in the schedule but that is just for middle school only and not the younger kids. The 1&2 grade from East will not have anyone to play this year.

Will these kids be allowed to play in the MVYAC this year? Yadkin was the only group that had teams last year.

Kevin will kids from other schools be able to transfer to a school in the MVYAC?

What's the latest news. Haven't heard anything in a while. Any arrests made yet? Is the new league still a go?

Nothing happened - bottomline, Sertoma was offered a no lose situation and they declined it. Oh wait, there is one party that would lose if the offer was took.

UNC I am glad that you guys have covered the middle school, however that leaves a large amount of kids in your system that aren't yet. And why should you guys have to go out and do that. The contract signed by our superintendent requires up to date and safe equipment for all the kids. It comes down to see if Mr. Collins is going to continue this farce that the league is broke. It may be broke but it is because a few men in Yadkinville have padded their pockets on the backs of our kids. There is a special place reserved in **** for grown men who will steal money from kids.

tuesday smoosday. Yadkin is out, just more bluffing from 'the club'. Heck Yadkin was done back in august after the last round of lies and broken promises were made. They all bought the equipment for the mighty mite programs and got them up and going and then sertoma took it over and got the gate from those games also, how right was that . Middle school is just a small portion or what this is about. It was started about the k-6 age kids, middle school should be middle school football not 'sponsored' by some outside organization under the make believe rules and regulations. The concern is/was we were promised the world and got little to nothing. As far as sertoma getting back equipment the schools should be the owners since the gate from these programs paid for the equipment however old or worn out it is. Alot of people don't know the real story or dont want to stand against the injustice, either way the truth will be revealed eventually!!

unc you and the whole world knows Yadkin is out. You have seen the letters sent, heck half the people in the 4 county area has seen them. The ball is in Sir Charles hands, we play our way or its the highway Dr. Hobbs has got his stuff together, He is going to do the best for our kids. Jeff /Charles Tuesday is coming tick tock, tick tock.

The 7th and 8th grade middle school kids are covered with insurance through the school system. Also, Central Wilkes Middle will have brand new helmets and shoulder pads for the middle school program. Through saved monies and fundraising, they will have whatever they need to perform at their best and be very well protected. Schedules are done...just waiting to see if Yadkin will be in the mx or not. A schedule has been made if Yadkin is in or out.

One of his arguments is about Sertoma providing the equipment and coming to pick up what they own. Well this argument should get interesting this year. By law, helmets must meet requirements this year and they must be reconditioned every 2 years. Let's see if the Sertoma office is ready to spend the money required to bring all the equipment up to standard. Even with only Wilkes County and Elkin in the league, lets say there are 120 helmets per school. That is 600 helmets and lets say 25% are too old under the new law. That means the league will purchase 150 helmets. Conservative cost is $60 per helmet, or $9000. I would say that there are 50% of the helmets that are in need of reconditioning. The cost of that is $35 per helmet, $10,500 for 300. That is conservatively $19,500 for helmets this year. Sertoma owes Cooks $10,000 that has been carried for years and I am sure they do not want any more debt from them. So when the Sertoma people, who claim there is no money, have to pay this bill, what will happen then? Will we continue to allow them to take our money when they fail to provide safe equipment for our kids? And will we continue to send them money when they fail to provide insurance protection for the kids and liability insurance for the officials, coaches, schools, and school board?
